Now hiring: we are hiring an argon arc welder in Lynn County, Texas. Ideal candidate: • ITI or trade certificate in welding an advantage • Aware of PPE, fume extraction and hot-work safety • Sound knowledge of argon gas settings and tungsten selection Day-to-day duties: • Set the argon flow on the flowmeter and check the hose for leaks • Run butt, fillet, lap and corner joints to spec • Back-purge pipe joints with argon so the root does not oxidise • Sharpen tungsten electrodes and fit the correct gas cup size • Select AC for aluminium and DC for stainless and mild steel • Tack weld parts to hold the fit-up before the final run Six days a week, one day off.
