Now hiring: we are hiring a head butcher in Polk County, Iowa. Day-to-day duties: • Sharpen and hone knives on a steel and whetstone • Monitor chiller and freezer temperatures to keep the cold chain • Keep HACCP hygiene records and sanitise the block and tools • Dress the chilled counter and rotate stock by date • Stuff and link fresh sausages with casings Requirements: • Confident knife skills and safe blade handling • Knowledge of halal slaughter and handling where required • Food hygiene / HACCP certificate 2+ years on the tools preferred. Rotating shifts. Performance bonus on top of base pay. Pay around $140 per day, based on your experience. Walk-in interviews this week.
