Furnace operator — Greene County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a furnace operator in Greene County, New York. The job is in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Day-to-day duties: • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects You should have: • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
