Great opportunity: we are hiring a fettler in Brown County, Kansas. Ideal candidate: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Basic grinding and fettling skills Your main tasks: • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
