Now hiring: we are hiring a vacuum press operator in Kings County, New York. You will work at a dry cleaner's. On a typical shift you will keep the boiler topped up and hold steady steam pressure; fuse interlinings and fusible tape on the fusing press; give each garment a final press before packing; shape collars, cuffs and lapels using a tailor's ham and sleeve board; meet the daily piece target without damaging garments; check every piece for scorch marks, shine and water spots. Requirements: • Aware of steam iron safety and basic machine upkeep • A keen eye for scorch, shine and uneven creases • Comfortable standing long shifts in a hot, humid environment 6+ years on the tools preferred.
