Core maker • Allegany County, Maryland

Great opportunity: we are hiring a core maker in Allegany County, Maryland. You will be based in a non-ferrous casting shop. Day-to-day duties: • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring Ideal candidate: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor Rotating shifts. On-the-job training and a clear path to grow. $4,900 per month, negotiable for the right hands. Walk-in interviews this week.
