Join our team: we are hiring a foundry operative in Frederick County, Maryland. You will be based in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Ideal candidate: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal On the job you will handle: • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring 3+ years on the tools preferred. Six days a week, one day off. $4,900 per month, negotiable for the right hands. Walk-in interviews this week.
