Day to day you will strike and hold a stable short-circuit or spray-transfer arc; grind back and re-weld any defective runs; bevel and grind the joint edges clean before welding; weld in flat, horizontal and vertical-up positions; change worn contact tips and gas nozzles on the torch; set the wire feed speed and voltage to suit the plate thickness.
