Now hiring: we are hiring a foundry operative in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. The job is in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Your main tasks: • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch Requirements: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding Part-time with flexible hours.
