You should have: • A good head for heights and steady balance • Knowledge of both pitched and flat roofing systems • Able to read roof pitch and set the falls Your main tasks: • Install metal flashing around chimneys and skylights • Bed and point ridge tiles with mortar • Hang box gutters and downpipes for rainwater • Solder and seam standing-seam metal roof sheets • Replace cracked or slipped tiles and slates • Torch on bitumen membrane across flat roofs Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough.
