Furnace operator • Somerset County, Maine

Immediate opening: we are hiring a furnace operator in Somerset County, Maine. You should have: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling On a typical shift you will inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes; melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges. At least 2 year(s) in a similar role. Full-time with occasional weekends. A stable, long-term role with a friendly crew. Walk-in interviews this week.
