Immediate opening: we are hiring a blocklayer in City of Norfolk, Virginia. The role involves raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish; laying bricks to the line, level and plumb; mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser; buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge; spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel; brushing the wall down and removing mortar snots as you go. Ideal candidate: • Able to lay to line, level and plumb consistently • Able to read construction drawings and setting-out marks • Own trowel, spirit level and basic hand tools At least 2 year(s) in a similar role. Pay around $24 per hour, based on your experience. Full-time with occasional weekends. Walk-in interviews this week.
