Requirements: • Can read fabrication drawings and welding symbols • Good eyesight for fine sheet-metal work • ITI or trade certificate in welding an advantage Day-to-day duties: • Weld thin stainless steel sheet without burning through • Clamp and fit up components on the jig before welding • Strike the arc with high-frequency start and control heat with the foot pedal • Feed filler rod by hand while holding a steady weld pool • Keep the arc length and travel speed consistent • TIG weld aluminium sections after cleaning off the oxide layer 6+ years on the tools preferred.
