Urgent requirement: we are hiring a fabricator-welder in Alpena County, Michigan. The job is in a food and dairy equipment factory. Ideal candidate: • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection • Able to weld thin-gauge sheet without burn-through • Physically fit to work in confined spaces and at height Day-to-day duties: • Carry out 6G pipe welds where required • Clean the base metal with a stainless brush and acetone before welding • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) • Feed the filler rod by hand while controlling the weld puddle • Inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion 5+ years on the tools preferred.
