Brick and block layer • Granville County, North Carolina

Vacancy available: we are hiring a brick and block layer in Granville County, North Carolina. Day-to-day duties: • Brushing the wall down and removing mortar snots as you go • Pointing and repointing weathered mortar joints • Spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel • Raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish • Checking every course for height and level with a gauge rod • Buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge Requirements: • NVQ Level 2 in Bricklaying an advantage • Comfortable working at height on scaffolding • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) $3,800 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
