Vacancy available: we are hiring a sample machinist in Hancock County, Illinois. You will be based in a textile and apparel unit. On a typical shift you will match notches and ply, lining up checks and stripes before stitching; set armholes and sleeves, easing the cap so there are no puckers; inspect each piece for skipped stitches, broken thread and needle holes; meet the hourly piece-rate target without dropping quality; stitch seams, hems, side seams and shoulder joins to the marked seam allowance; clear thread jams, re-time the looper and oil the machine before the shift. What we are looking for: • Understands fabric types and how to handle knits versus wovens • Quality-conscious with an eye for puckers, skipped stitches and uneven seams 4+ years on the tools preferred. $3,600 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
