Immediate opening: we are hiring a furnace operator in Schoharie County, New York. You will be based in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Requirements: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling Day to day you will tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes; mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture; maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities.
