Now hiring: we are hiring a plant operator in Mercer County, Illinois. The job is in an open-cast quarry. Your main tasks: • Strip and stockpile topsoil ready for reuse • Dig foundation trenches and footings to the marked depths and levels • Inspect tracks, bucket teeth and pins for wear before start-up • Carry out daily greasing and check hydraulic oil, coolant and fuel levels • Excavate trenches for water, sewer and cable runs • Lift and place pipes, manholes and precast sections with the bucket and chains What we are looking for: • Valid CPCS/NPORS card or local heavy-equipment licence • Reliable, punctual and able to get to site • Own PPE — safety boots, hi-vis and hard hat At least 6 year(s) in a similar role.
