Furnace operator — Borough of Oldham

Great opportunity: we are hiring a furnace operator in Borough of Oldham, England. You will be based in the fettling and dressing shop. Day-to-day duties: • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings Ideal candidate: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts At least 6 year(s) in a similar role.
