Urgent requirement: we are hiring a gtaw welder in Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska. The job is at a precision engineering workshop. Ideal candidate: • Own basic hand tools and PPE • Proven experience with TIG/GTAW on stainless and aluminium • Able to read isometric and fabrication drawings Day-to-day duties: • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions • Inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion • Weld stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel in thin gauges • Prep and fit up the joint, then lay tack welds before the full run • Read the WPS and weld to the specified parameters • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) Rotating shifts.
