On a typical shift you will test batteries, alternators and starter motors with a multimeter; programme keys and reset immobilisers; install alarms, immobilisers and central locking; replace blown fuses, relays and faulty switches; trace and fix short circuits and earthing faults; read and clear ECU fault codes. You should have: • Good colour vision for identifying wire colours • Skilled with multimeter, test lamp and diagnostic scanner Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
