Foundry operative wanted in Sunderland

Great opportunity: we are hiring a foundry operative in Sunderland, England. You will work on the moulding line. What we are looking for: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts Day-to-day duties: • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together At least 1 year(s) in a similar role.
