Now hiring: we are hiring an abattoir worker in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. You will trim fat, sinew and silver skin off the cuts; sharpen and hone knives on a steel and whetstone; monitor chiller and freezer temperatures to keep the cold chain; break down beef, mutton and chicken carcasses into primal cuts. Requirements: • 2+ years experience working as a butcher • Physically fit to lift carcasses and stand all day • Comfortable working in cold rooms and chillers 2+ years on the tools preferred.
