Great opportunity: we are hiring a fettler in Mono County, California. You will be based in the melting bay of a steel foundry. What we are looking for: • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor The role involves: • Operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
