Furnace operator • Cayuga County, New York

Urgent requirement: we are hiring a furnace operator in Cayuga County, New York. You will work in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Day-to-day duties: • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges You should have: • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
