Fire and safety officer • City of Bristol, Virginia

Great opportunity: we are hiring a fire and safety officer in City of Bristol, Virginia. You will be based at a busy construction site. Your main tasks: • Audit housekeeping and barricading around excavations and open edges • Run the permit-to-work system for hot work and confined-space entry • Verify lifting gear, slings, shackles and crane test certificates • Check PPE such as helmets, goggles, gloves and ear plugs and issue replacements • Take gas readings with a multi-gas detector before confined-space entry You should have: • Physically fit for full-site inspections on foot • Strong record-keeping and incident-reporting skills • Valid first aid and basic firefighting training Six days a week, one day off.
