Now hiring: we are hiring a moulder in North Ayrshire, Scotland. You will work in the fettling and dressing shop. Ideal candidate: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings On a typical shift you will carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together; tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects.
