Immediate opening: we are hiring a foundry operative in Isles of Scilly, England. Ideal candidate: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry • Basic grinding and fettling skills Day-to-day duties: • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring Rotating shifts.
