Now hiring: we are hiring a sand plant operator in McDonough County, Illinois. The job is in the melting bay of a steel foundry. The role involves: • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together Ideal candidate: • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection Performance bonus on top of base pay.
