The role involves: • Set up the argon shielding gas and check the flow rate at the regulator • Set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job • Run root passes and fill passes on pipe joints Requirements: • Able to weld thin-gauge sheet without burn-through • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
