Argon arc welder • Hamilton County, Illinois

Immediate opening: we are hiring an argon arc welder in Hamilton County, Illinois. You will be based in a sheet-metal fabrication unit. Day-to-day duties: • TIG weld aluminium sections after cleaning off the oxide layer • Run butt, fillet, lap and corner joints to spec • Tack weld parts to hold the fit-up before the final run • Grind, blend and polish finished welds to a clean finish • Inspect welds visually for porosity, cracks and undercut • Clamp and fit up components on the jig before welding Requirements: • Able to TIG weld stainless steel and aluminium to a neat standard • Sound knowledge of argon gas settings and tungsten selection • Steady hand and good hand-eye coordination Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
