You should have: • Steady hand and good eyesight for tight tolerances • Knowledge of short-circuit and spray-transfer modes • Aware of PPE, fume extraction and hot-work safety On the job you will handle: • Weld in flat, horizontal and vertical-up positions • Grind back and re-weld any defective runs • Set the wire feed speed and voltage to suit the plate thickness • Read fabrication drawings and weld symbols Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
