Ideal candidate: • ITI or trade certificate in welding an advantage • Comfortable working off scaffolds and in tight spaces Day to day you will select AC for aluminium and DC for stainless and mild steel; strike the arc with high-frequency start and control heat with the foot pedal; set the argon flow on the flowmeter and check the hose for leaks; back-purge pipe joints with argon so the root does not oxidise.
