Now hiring: we are hiring a foundry operative in Albany County, New York. The role involves melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand. Ideal candidate: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection $150 per day, negotiable for the right hands.
