Now hiring: we are hiring a slinger signaller in Adams County, Mississippi. You will be based at a shipyard. On a typical shift you will calculate load weight and centre of gravity before every lift; inspect slings, shackles and eyebolts for wear, kinks and cracks before each use; read lift plans and method statements before starting; direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio; fit tag lines to control and steady suspended loads. You should have: • Confident with standard crane hand signals • Ability to read lift plans and rigging diagrams • Sound knowledge of working load limits and sling angles Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
