Plant operator — City of Roanoke

Vacancy available: we are hiring a plant operator in City of Roanoke, Virginia. You will work at a road-building project. On a typical shift you will break rock and concrete with the hydraulic breaker attachment; top up diesel, inspect hydraulic hoses for leaks and report defects; grease the pins, bushings and slew ring at the start of each shift; check for underground cables and services before digging; backfill and compact soil around pipes and foundations; level and grade the road sub-base to the surveyor's pegs and string lines. Requirements: • Understanding of safe digging near underground services • Knowledge of pre-start inspections and basic machine maintenance 5+ years on the tools preferred. Full-time, day shift.
