Sand plant operator wanted in Santa Cruz County

Vacancy available: we are hiring a sand plant operator in Santa Cruz County, California. The role involves shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale; fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges; skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring; cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes. Ideal candidate: • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
