Vacancy available: we are hiring a bricklayer in Johnson County, Iowa. You will be based at a renovation and extension job. What we are looking for: • Able to lay to line, level and plumb consistently • Physically fit for lifting bricks and blocks all day • Able to read construction drawings and setting-out marks Day to day you will forming arches, piers and reveals around openings; spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel; laying bricks to the line, level and plumb; mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser; buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge; checking every course for height and level with a gauge rod. Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough. Part-time with flexible hours. A stable, long-term role with a friendly crew. We offer $3,400 per month plus benefits.
