Now hiring: we are hiring a counter butcher in Shiawassee County, Michigan. The job is at an abattoir or slaughterhouse. Requirements: • Comfortable working in cold rooms and chillers • Food hygiene / HACCP certificate The role involves: • Run the band saw to cut cleanly through bone • Sharpen and hone knives on a steel and whetstone • Portion steaks, chops and cutlets to the ordered weights • Monitor chiller and freezer temperatures to keep the cold chain • Season and marinate meat on request • Weigh, price and label cuts for the display case Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough. Pay around $2,500 per month, based on your experience. A stable, long-term role with a friendly crew. Full-time with occasional weekends. Walk-in interviews this week.
