Immediate opening: GMAW welder (New York)

Join our team: we are hiring a GMAW welder in Albany County, New York. The job is in a sheet-metal fabrication unit. Requirements: • Able to pass a 3G/4G plate test • Knowledge of short-circuit and spray-transfer modes • Able to grind, fit-up and tack independently On the job you will handle: • Set the wire feed speed and voltage to suit the plate thickness • Strike and hold a stable short-circuit or spray-transfer arc • Grind back and re-weld any defective runs • Bevel and grind the joint edges clean before welding • Tack components to the jig and check the fit-up against the drawing • Check welds for porosity, undercut and lack of penetration 5+ years on the tools preferred. $210 per day, negotiable for the right hands.
