Immediate opening: we are hiring a tig welder in Hancock County, Illinois. The job is at a precision engineering workshop. Day-to-day duties: • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) • Control heat input so thin sheet does not warp • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job • Set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal • Weld stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel in thin gauges Requirements: • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection • Able to read isometric and fabrication drawings • Comfortable working to tight fit-up tolerances We offer $31 per hour plus benefits.
