On the job you will handle: • Strike the arc with high-frequency start and control heat with the foot pedal • Feed filler rod by hand while holding a steady weld pool • Clamp and fit up components on the jig before welding • Back-purge pipe joints with argon so the root does not oxidise Ideal candidate: • Steady hand and good hand-eye coordination • Able to pass a weld test on the spot Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
