Requirements: • Sound knowledge of argon gas settings and tungsten selection • Good eyesight for fine sheet-metal work Day to day you will sharpen tungsten electrodes and fit the correct gas cup size; inspect welds visually for porosity, cracks and undercut; feed filler rod by hand while holding a steady weld pool; strike the arc with high-frequency start and control heat with the foot pedal; select AC for aluminium and DC for stainless and mild steel; run butt, fillet, lap and corner joints to spec.
