Fire and safety officer — Grayson County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a fire and safety officer in Grayson County, Virginia. You will be based at an oil and gas facility. What we are looking for: • Minimum 2-3 years on construction or factory sites • Sound knowledge of local OSH and factory act regulations • NEBOSH, IOSH or a recognised OHS certificate Day to day you will take gas readings with a multi-gas detector before confined-space entry; stop unsafe work and brief the supervisor on corrective action; inspect scaffolding, full-body harnesses and lifelines for work at height; audit housekeeping and barricading around excavations and open edges; check PPE such as helmets, goggles, gloves and ear plugs and issue replacements; investigate near-misses and incidents and file root-cause reports. Freshers welcome — about 5 years of practice is enough. A stable, long-term role with a friendly crew. Full-time with occasional weekends. Share your details and we will call you back.
