You should have: • Able to pass a 3G/4G plate test • Steady hand and good eyesight for tight tolerances • Comfortable welding mild steel, stainless and aluminium You will maintain the torch liner, earth clamp and gas hose; read fabrication drawings and weld symbols; change worn contact tips and gas nozzles on the torch; control distortion with a balanced welding sequence; clear spatter and slag, then wire-brush the finished bead; check welds for porosity, undercut and lack of penetration.
