Requirements: • Comfortable working off scaffolds and in tight spaces • Able to pass a weld test on the spot • Can read fabrication drawings and welding symbols Your main tasks: • Tack weld parts to hold the fit-up before the final run • Run butt, fillet, lap and corner joints to spec • Grind, blend and polish finished welds to a clean finish • Inspect welds visually for porosity, cracks and undercut • Select AC for aluminium and DC for stainless and mild steel Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
