Shakeout operator • Essex County, Virginia

Great opportunity: we are hiring a shakeout operator in Essex County, Virginia. You will work in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Day-to-day duties: • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects Ideal candidate: • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts Six days a week, one day off. $5,400 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
