Great opportunity: we are hiring a gang bricklayer in Rock Island County, Illinois. You will work on a scaffolded high-rise site. Ideal candidate: • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Comfortable working at height on scaffolding Day-to-day duties: • Checking every course for height and level with a gauge rod • Building the corners (leads) first and racking back the courses • Installing damp-proof courses, lintels and cavity trays • Brushing the wall down and removing mortar snots as you go • Raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish • Setting out walls from the drawings and marking the brick gauge Freshers welcome — about 5 years of practice is enough.
