Requirements: • Comfortable working to tight fit-up tolerances • Able to read isometric and fabrication drawings • Valid welder certification (ASME IX / ISO 9606 an advantage) Day-to-day duties: • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) • Weld stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel in thin gauges • Clean the base metal with a stainless brush and acetone before welding • Set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal Rotating shifts.
