You should have: • Own basic hand tools and PPE • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection • Able to read isometric and fabrication drawings The role involves: • Feed the filler rod by hand while controlling the weld puddle • Set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal • Inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion • Set up the argon shielding gas and check the flow rate at the regulator • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job • Run root passes and fill passes on pipe joints 2+ years on the tools preferred.
